wooooo, early morning post.
I'm getting ready to get out the door and go down the coast. FINALLY
I thought I ought to make an attempt at posting some pictures of something before I am removed from the internets for a few days.
Probably should have done this a few days ago but ugh...
So James, Susan, Gabz, Katrina and I all crammed into the car one afternoon and drove out to Multnomah Falls. The Oregon wilderness is incredible and so are you.
Apologies for the lack of editing today, will fix soon.(at least they're in semi-chronological order)
Update:
Okey doke. I have some more pictures and commentary to fill out the remainder of this photo hike.
THE TOP
I can see the car from here
The way these trees are curved gives a pretty neat wide-angle lens feel.
Discovering a few things about the white balance and the flash
More frothy flash fun
Some rock scrawling
Rock overhang! The surface along much of this trail is either hacked into the rock next to the river or gravel retaining walls.
Also, this is when the sunlight began to dim
more waterfalls
the walls of this canyon thing are crazy
wat? uh, er, falls
We turned around and made it back to the main paved tourist path by dark.

To the Beach!
1/15
Last night, during the pizza party, it was decided that we were going to drive to Cannon Beach today. I found a couple looking to ride there too and contribute to gas money.
We picked up Vivian and then Johnny and his girlfriend and got on the road to the beach. It's a pretty pleasant drive, about 90 miles, and would probably be a blast to bike in the summer.
When we got there, we dropped our rideshare friends off at their cabin and just parked out front. It was a short walk down to the beach and although it was raining it wasn't all that bad. Fortunately I had a umbrella in the car.
Fog and rain.
Haystack Rock slowly materialized out of the fog.
We walked down the beach some more and found cool shells and a bird skull.
A river cut across the beach so we had to turn around. The tide had been going out this whole time so on the way back we were able to climb up on the rocks and get closer to Haystack rock.
Anemones
It's really tempting to touch these things. Probably not a good idea.
At this point it was really raining and the wind was pretty fierce. My camera was beginning to get wet which is why these are focused kinda strange.
We were all completely soaked at this point and sort of found some food. This bagel place was ridiculously over priced and it was neigh on impossible to find the grocery store to get some reasonably priced snacky food.
Drove home.
