Alright, had to get up bright and early today (as in 5:30am) so that I could eat, meet the rideshare, and make it up to Tacoma by 9am.
Ugh.
Actually the ride up wasn't so bad, my rideshare acquaintance (whose name I have misplaced) was quite a conversational character. We pretty much chatted non-stop the whole way. The scenery was nice too, well once the sun came up. Lots of mysterious fog in the trees, bits and pieces of lakes and sounds and stuff.
I dropped dude off in the parking lot of the medical clinic, since he was just gonna go wait on his cousin at a restaurant next door, took a deep breath and went inside. I had to wait around a bit while they found my info I had given them online. This gave me time to review a bunch of disclaimers and paperwork. TGFskimming. On to a consent counseling session where a went over all the paper work and had me initial and sign a bunch of stuff.
Then they took my weight, I got to pee in a cup, they did a light physical and an ECG. The ECG was exciting, being the first one I've ever had done. Then I spoke to the doc for a bit, he asked me a bunch of questions to test mental acuity and stuff like that.
And... that was that.
So I had about 3 hours before my scheduled meet up with my new rideshare back. Yep, got someone to rideshare both directions. Checked the GPS and found that Jimi Hendrix's gravesite was about 30 minutes away and started driving that direction.
View of Tacoma. It's very hilly.
Once I got across town I realized I really needed a cup of coffee and would like to see whats up with Tacoma.
U-turn, head downtown, find coffee.
After a bit of wandering I found some coffee. This coffee place, by the name of Tully's, looked like a Starbucks in disguise but I really wanted some coffee. Actually, it seems that Tully's is a major competitor with Starbuck's and according to wikipedia they used to employ a tactic of placing businesses directly across the street from Starbuck stores.
Anywho, the universe decided this was a poor choice on my part and immediately tangled my bootlaces together as I was crossing the street causing me to throw my hat off my head, my phone in the gutter, tear one of my boots in half and pour the entire coffee on myself. wut. ridiculous.
Found a shitty place to get a sandwich and an americano and left.
By now there was no time to go to Jimi Hendrix's gravesite but maybe if I get into the study I'll be able to go back sometime.
Puget Sound.
Went to Olympia to pick up Hannah. Chilled out and got some real coffee at a place called Batdorf. Journaled a bit until she showed up.
Proceed to Portland. Conversation, again, was superb and when we got to Portland she bought gas AND got me a chilled cheez and soup at a food cart on Alberta.
Huzzah!
Also, if I get into this study, no coffee, chocolate, tea, grapefruit, or beer from New Year's til the 7th of Jan. Waugh.
12/29
Crappy weather. Craigslist cruising.
Got to check out some of Powells City of Books Building #2. This is where all the science-y books live. Wayyyy cool. There's a whole shelf of stuff on vacuum tubes and such.
Later we checked out some dumpsters on Hawthorne, found nuthin...
