The drive to Oakland was short and sweet, not much more than 2 hours.
We made it to James' sister's(Emily) place and quickly dropped some stuff off and got some burritos.
Soon we were off for a hike in the hills and some spectacular views of oakland, Berkley and the Bay.
Crossing the San Rafael Bridge into Oakland
I forgot to change the setting on the camera back to normal...
Here's a view from a spot we stopped at on the drive. Smells like eucalyptus.
After a short hike up and through a cow pasture. A view to the north east-ish.
The breeze was really strong on top of the ridge. This is an attempt at photographing a crow that was riding the breeze coming over the hill. It seemed to be completely stationary in the sky at times.
And the path down.
At the bottom there is a small pond and a labyrinth. The pond puddle is full of frogs and you could here them all the way at the top of the hill. Their croaking echoing off of the cliff side nearby.
Frog Patch
Spent the rest of the day getting oriented with the area and hanging out with new people.
